Adding and subtracting fractions

Adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator worksheet
When adding two fractions whose denominators (bottom numbers) are the same, you simply add the two numerators (top numbers) and leave the denominators the same. Can your child work out the fraction additions in this worksheet?
Keystage:  KS2, Year 3

How do you add and subtract fractions with the same denominator?

When adding fractions with the same denominator, make sure that the bottom numbers (denominators) are already identical. Then, simply add the top numbers (numerators) together and keep the common denominator.

Similarly, when subtracting fractions with the same denominator, check the denominators match. Subtract the numerators while keeping the common denominator.
