Because of the Fog

The world came to a stop!!

There was an accident on the bypass this morning, about 6.30ish, it caused gridlock in town, with far reaching affects to outlying areas.

C's bus was late and the knock on effect was W was late for school to, by 35 mins. I'd already rung and informed them and was told they were holding the registers open until later. I wasn't .the last one to school either.

I know Christmas Angel had some problems with the traffic too, which means even the backroads must have been chock-ablock this morning.

And it appears it's all down to the fog and people not driving to what they can see, rather than doing their usual 100 MPH

I'm glad they went to school safely, if a little late, Jac.

It has been ok up here this morning, but it was foggy at the weekend.  I didn't have to go out Saturday morning, but Sunday was misty/foggy most of the day, and I had to get dd and myself to the riding stables.  On the way back there is a roundabout on the main road as part of a motorway junction, and I only knew it was approaching because I could just see the traffic lights!

G cancelled a new students lesson yesterday as he didn't feel it was safe. We've had horrendous fog here. Because Essex is very flat in comaprison with the rest of the UK the fog is either just a mist of like the last few days so thick you feel like you are travelling backards the speed you have to go, esp on country lanes

wilfver

It was bad here on Sunday but had cleared by this morning luckily, because we have lots of fields near so that makes visibility bad, also M25 can be very hazadous in the fog as drivers ignore the warning signs when the road seems clear and do not realise that a minuets up the road they will hit a literal 'blanket' of fog. lots of cars out on sunday and most of them did not have any lights on making them almost impossible to see

What amazes me is how many people frive without any fog lights on or any other lights for that matter. We were driving back from the local big garden centre on sunday and rounded a corner into the mist it was around dusk anyway and loads of cars were unlit.
