When I first saw this, I thought the fan was protesting about something such as the Chairman, or something that had happened during the transfer window. I hadn't realised that he was a professional protester! Must be quite hard coming up with new ways to make your point that will get people's attention.

Define "professional". Perhaps you mean "persistant"?
He was protesting about an airlines recruitment policy? I doubt the airline would have noticed.
Mabye it would have been more pertinent to chain himself to the check in desk at Gatwick or something.
The only bright spot in an otherwise dismal evening for you Leeds?

My evening was dire, Ursh. And today is not getting any better!
I used the word "professional," Daedy, in the same sense that it is used in the statement issued by Everton Football Club, and quoted in the link. I guess that one would have to be a persistant protester in order to be considered a professional, lol. I think I first became aware of this phrase in the reporting of the recent camp outside St Paul's Cathedral, although it has probably been around much longer.
Aye, since Greenham Common I reckon.
Okay, well, I still dislike it.
To me, 'profesional' means either getting paid for it or doing it with a level of expertise normally recognised by specific qualifications.
I would debate whether you can be a professional housewife, but I know hardly anyone will see it here.
