The campaign will run until the end of the academic year and will culminate in a tour, which will involve Winkler visiting schools around the country. Balls said the campaign would help improve the self-esteem of children with SEN. "Through highlighting positive role models and sharing good examples of teaching and learning this campaign will promote inclusion in the classroom and inspire young people to go on and achieve," he explained.

What a load of twaddle, you cannot inprove a childs self esteem just by a campaign like this. What planet is EB on and why the Fonz - most children don't know who he is?

If I had a line of books I wanted to sell, do you think the Government would endorse me touring schools pushing them?

I'm sorry but Ed Balls REALLY needs to come and talk to parents that are real with real children and find out what they really need to help them. Even our lads would be hard pushed to remember the Fonz and they are in their 20's he would NOT appeal to DD at all.

Surely there must be someone more intune with todays youngsters that can send the same message for goodness sake.

Actually I know what EB won't come here if he's reading this we haven't been positive about any of his suggestions - but why throw resourses just for the sake it won't work.

Henry Winkler does have dyslexia which went undiagnosed for years so would probably be good heading a campaign for adults who remember who he is but for kids he is totally irrelevant.

Kids with SEN often have low self esteem but I'm not convinced one flying visit from a celeb is going to do much about that.

Actually WR it woudl make more sense for him to spearhead a campaign to hit adults - get those on side and more understanding and your helping the children immediately.

That would make more sense Polly.
LOL @ Daedy

I agree is the goverment actually listened to the reports it commissioned and the parents and the teachers they may actually come up with something that works.

But that would mean admitting parents know more than the advisors they pay
