we had a letter home today, which made me really proud of our school as a community school, theres a little girl that goes there, she has a condition cant remeber what its called,it isnt to common, and they said her mother had wanted a new buggy for her,and the buggy cost over £1.000,and unfortunately whoever mother gets the funds from for this kiddys stuff, all the funds have run out.
anyhow the long and short of it was the school were holding a bingo night to raise money for this buggy which i think is absolutely fantastic, theyre always doing this sort of stuff,it has a real community feel for it.
i just wondererd if they dont raise enough money, what could i do? i cant write a check as im skint, but id like to do my bit,has anyone any suggestions?

That's really kind of you Shazz. I'm no good at that sort of thing, but why not have a chat with the mum and see if she has any ideas. Perhaps just pledging help and support to the event she has organised would make a big difference!
Or are there any christmas fayres coming up where you could run a cake stall with procedes going to help?
Shazz, she could try the family fund to make up the shortfall
i dont know whos shes applied to to be honest jac,i may well have a word with her on monday and see whats what, tell you what though what an amasing mother she is,she drives round in her spacecruiser or whatever it is and has a poster in the window about her daughters condition, absolutely amasing.
You'll have to find out what the condition is and tell us
Shazz she probably knows about this but it's alink to the family fund
http://www.familyfund.org.uk/
Tell her to try Parent Partnership if she has a good one they'll be able to show her where there is funding available - and I think you wanting to help is great.
What about a bake sale ? Would school let you organise one ?
What about buying a teddy bear and let people guess the name of the teddy bear, £1 a go or 50p or whatever? could sell names on bingo night and at school!
Sotos Syndrome is what she has,ive just found an article about it in the local newspaper by doing a search
You seem to have really taken this to heart shazz ((hugs))
I think you should have a word with her Shazz and see what you can do to help. Good for you though. Well done.
