Can I just ask something about the polls that appear on this site?

Why are they not fully inclusive?

The one about how much do you spend on your child at Christmas, didn't have a zero option. Isn't it just a bit presumptious that everyone does celebrate or spend money on Christmas?
The latest one about childcare doesn't have a
'I Never need childcare, I don't go out. or I never pay for childcare answer. Which would have been the only two answers I could have gave.
I have been out once this year, the 25th November! Daniel was at his respite carers and William stayed over at his sisters. I was supposed to be at the MS societies Christmas dinner tonight but having already used up Daniels respite night, just can't go!
When Rab and I were both working we worked shifts so there was always a parent there. We really don't socialise ever! If it is something the kids can't go to it is something that we can't go to. We surely can't be the only couple this sad?

So poll writers you need to think out the box just a little bit. The 'none of the above' answer might seem just so ridiculous but I guarantee you that there will be at least one parent out there who will choose that option!

As for Christmas spending, for us hard to quantify an actual amount, as usually our kids have had most of their Christmas gifts long before December!

Hi Cath, thanks for the feedback. I'll pass it on to our team of poll writers for comment.
(I hope it's not dropping her in it too much - but that would be our Amy) Smile

LOL, I know it's just nitpicking for nitpickings sake but honestly my life is that sad!

Do you pay friends to look after your children? mmm have to find some real life friends first I suppose but most of mine have serious health conditions of their own, some worse than mine so I suppose I could turn that one around to say, I would pay my children to look after my friends! pmsl

I've never seen a poll that could cover every eventuality for every person..........

Thanks for your feedback everybody. Cath, thank you for your thoughts, which I do appreciate. The polls are neither presumptuous nor exclusive. The poll about childcare referred to the government's interference i(now hopefully withdrawn)n reciprocal childcare arrangements that has been in the news in the last couple of months. It referred to parents who work and who have no option other than to have some childcare for their children. It wasn't about arrangements for childcare so parents can go out and enjoy themselves. The other poll, about how much parents spend on Christmas presents, had a "£50 or under" option, which could mean any amount from £0 - £50. The polls are intended as a bit of fun, not a serious comment on the way we each live our lives, and it is entirely the individual's choice whether to take part or not, and no-one is obliged to take part. As Corris said, she has never seen a poll that covers every eventuality for every person, and it would be impossible to try. But please keep on giving your feedback everybody.

Can I ask Amy are the poll results anonymous from your end? Or are users identified with their answers?

Interesting point = I must admit I presumed it was to do with the parents who worked mainly although I did answer school clubs as that is the only child care I have open to me now.
