Roald Dahl Day - fancy dress

Dd's year are having a Roald Dahl day on Wednesday, and they have to dress as a character, in a costume they have made themselves(!) They were informed of this on Friday, but she only told me tonight - so any ideas gratefully received, please. She says she wants something different to George, Danny, Charlie etc but what else is quick and easy to do?

The Roly Poly bird from the Twits? Mrs Twit? A Witch? Muggle Wump the monkey? An oompa-loompa? Matilda (lots of books and bruises from the chokey?).

What about a giant peach? BFG, you could get some clothes that are slightly too small and look around for some big ears from somewhere?

How about Georges grandma?

She just needs to wear old lady clothes and yell 'geeeeeooooooooooooorge' a lot.

Thanks for the ideas - I did suggest an Oompa Loompa - but she didn't seem too keen on that idea, and I don't really want to have to buy a green wig, or wig to spray green!

I like Muggle Wump, not sure what we could use to make a monkey costume, but I'll see what she says to that.

BFG might be a possibility. I knew I should have kept the Walkers ears that I sent for a few years ago!

A witch from the Witches would be easiest. A fox from Fantastic Mr Fox? or one of the farmers from FMF would be quite easy too.

(Not tht all schools are following the same narrow prescriptive curriculum or anything, but...)

ED went as an Ommpa-Loompa. But, if you don't want a green wig ... sorry, not much help am I.

Thanks Daeds - do you have a costume you can get to me by tomorrow morning? no? oh well ...

They've been told they are not allowed to dye their hair (this mornings piece of information from dd). I assume wigs would be ok though?

She liked the idea of being Muggle Wump, so thanks for that, OA. "We" could be making monkey ears and a tail this evening!

I love days like this, i do prefer it tho if they give us at last a couple of weeks notice to get a costume together, rather than a few days!!!

I always look forward to world book day. OOOOOO just realised i will have 2 costumes to make this year YAY!!!!!

Have fun making the ears and tail Janey xxxx
