School progress

I finally plucked up the courage to phone the LEA last week. I turn into Super Efficient Mum- with the capitals- whilst dealing with them, it's just getting to that point that stumps!

Anyway it seems that it's been approved for Alex to go to mainstream and next week (this week?) it goes to panel for them to decide on funding. Or rather, for them to decide on the lowest possible level of funding that they think they might get away with, which I shall promptly appeal of course because it won't be nearly enough. *grin*

Looks like things are finally moving, though!

Good news. I agree about the funding issue and I bet they'll take you as far as they can (almost to Tribunal level) to see if you back down - don't  - they will give in

I expect they will. I expect they are as strapped for cash as anyone else, but even if they gave Alex full time support with full time break and lunch support too they would still be saving considerably on what they spend sending him to a special school. So I shall hang out for as much as possible, naturally!

The concern with Alex is they will look at his levels and be like what??? but they need to be looking at his social/ independence/ etc levels too as that's his disability.

Good Luck with it all, EB.  Things seem to be moving really quickly for you.
