My daughter HATES Literacy work. She has behavioural problems anyway, and all too often they seem to have been sparked off by being asked to do literacy. She often says she hates it, avoids doing homework, etc. At the moment she is being educated at a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit, not a life insurance company!) bercause she was excluded from school because of her behaviour.

Well, this teacher must be a flipping genius, is all I can say. P came home from school yesterday and told me that Literacy is now her favourite subject. The teacher put a note in her Home-School book saying that they had had a brilliant lesson and P had really enjoyed it.

I am SO pleased. Plus, it looks as if we will be getting the statement, and she will be able to go to the behavioural unit in the mainstream school in the next town. Please cross your fingers for us...

Brilliant news! I am so pleased for you and P, and hope the move to mainstream school happens soon and goes well. Have you been to see the school yet?

This is wonderful news I'm so pleased Smile And proof that there are brilliant teachers out there who can get the best of of their pupils.

On a similar note, I'm happy to announce that having different teachers to last year for History and Maths have made a WORLD of difference to my YD and yesterday she came home bubbling about how she understood so much better, she said it's all 'clicked' now !

Good luck and fingers x for a happy outcome.

Exactly, Ursh - either a change of teacher, or a teacher who can change their teaching style for different kids, can make a whole universe of difference to our children.

The new school is lovely, they've got chickens!

That's great, and (I'm pleased to say) further proves my thought that there's a perfect way to teach everyone as long as you can find it. I'm glad your daughter is finally having fun with such a great subject!

That is really good news, for both of you.

Will P be moving next term?

And will she be bringing fresh eggs home with her every day? Or do they get omelettes for lunch ad nauseum?! That sounds lovely.

And I'm glad that your YD is finding that things have "clicked," Ursh! This sort of stuff is so nice to read.

really hope she is enjoying the subject rather than just the lessons, IYSWIM - more chance of it surviving a move of school. But very well done that teacher!
