Just re-read the letter I got home from school last week and apparantly on the 14th, children are to go in victorian costumes to tie in with the topic they have been doing.
Help!!!!!
What on earth can I send DD and DS in that is cheap/free?
Wouldn't mind but I sent in 2 waistcoats and flat caps in the other week as school were asking us to send in stuff for them to dress up in at school.
For any ideas/suggestions, I will be eternally grateful

cut off grey pants white shirt - chimney sweep
long dark skirt, white blouse (t shirt) and a pinny maid .
lol ask fro the caps etc back ??
Lol Polly, yes I am going to tomorrow morning, can't believe they did that really.
Thanks, will see what I have - thinking Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins lol.
oh we did a victorian day when i was at primary school. i remember it so well. it was brilliant!! Most boys were in grey shorts and oversized shirts with ties or neckercheifs(?) and flat caps. those with out flat caps had a shiny side sweep combed in . I wore a long white old fashioned nightie that mum had cut the sleeves off to create a white pinny effect. Had a Dark blue long skirt and a dark long sleeved top underneath. I think some children had poles with spotted hankies tied around their lunch in a dick whittington style!
I hope that our kids hold their memories so close when they grow up that would really make it all worthwhile getting the costumes etc sorted.
when we had a victorian day for william,i got an old pair of school pants i cut them almost up to the knees, made ragged edges, got a white school shirt, done patches of black crayon over it so it looked like coal, done bits of blacks over his face in black face paint and smudged it so it looked like coal over his face, got him a flat cap out the charity shop, and what i diddnt think of but is a good idea, would have been to get him a new toilet brush,so he would have looked like a child chimbney sweep.
