Are you worried that your Year 6 child won't get a place in your secondary school of choice next year? What will you do if they don't get in?

Luckily mine have gone past that stage!

I did appeal for my son to get into the school he now goes to, so I would definately go as far as I could go to get the school of my choice!

Did you win your appeal, Nessy, or did DS get in because a place came up and he lived closest?

My lad's school goes from nursery to 18 plus now, so we didn't have to go through this, but must be nerve wracking.

It's bad enough when they don't get the primary school of your choice, and I would imagine it matters even more with secondary.

I was told by our Senco that whichever local school (faith or nearest community school) we put as first choice should be granted, it is only when wanting an 'out of area' school without good reason (statements etc) when it becomes a problem ......

I'm still going to wait for the email though before assuming he'll be given a place.

By the sound of it Janey it sounds as if there aren't issues over numbers if she state that so confidantly.

We have put the Faith School as first choice, I'm fairly sure she'll get in as we applied on Christian grounds so should have full points but there is always the chance that there will be a huge amount applying this time.

I'm really concerned over it but trying not to think about it and will appeal if she fails to get in, especially as we know the Senco there will help us in our appeal for a statement once a place is allocated.

I'm dreading next year, DD goes to a faith primary school, but because Essex County Council in their ultimate stupidity want to change the entry criteria she may not get a place.

Apparently, even though it's a Cathoilic School there is every possibilty that they may give preferrence to non Catholics who live nearby over families who have traditionally travelled from miles away to one of the few Catholic Secondary Schools in the area

Watch out for the news if they try!

That's shocking Jacqui Faith schools have always been able to take children from out of the area on the grounds of urmm faith ??? Is the school funded by the LEA in any way ?
