KS1 children

Between the ages of 5 and 7 your child will develop from a school starter into a confident member of their class and school (though they might not be so keen to acknowledge you in the playground!). By KS1 most children have adapted to school life; they now need to get used to a more formal style of learning, with greater emphasis on literacy and numeracy. They will also begin to get some homework.

Educational techniques are always evolving, so you might not know what or how your child will be taught. Be prepared for their questions by reading up on what is covered in KS1 English, KS1 maths and KS1 science. In year 2 you might also find your child begins to feel exam pressure when they prepare for KS1 SATs. Engaging, entertaining activities to support what they're learning at school will really boost their confidence.
