Understanding light reflection: Build your own periscope
Mirrors change the direction of light and reflect it. We can demonstrate this practically by making a periscope. Light is reflected from one object into a mirror and then onto the other mirror before reaching your eyes. Collect your materials and find out for yourself!
What is evaporation?
In this investigation you are going to see if water can move – or does it just change?
Food webs
When we look at habitats we often look at food chains to see the feeding relationships within them. Sometimes, though, more than one animal feeds off others. This is when we make food webs. Look at these cards. Can you cut them out and arrange them on the table with the arrows to show which animals feed off each other?
I hear with my little ear
Sit in a quiet place and close your eyes and listen really carefully. What can you hear inside the room? What can you hear inside yourself? Record the sounds you hear.

Suggestions for activities to try at home to help your child investigate factors that affect pitch.
Circuits and conductors
A cutting out and re-ordering activity, where your child needs to match vocabulary on electricity with the correct definition.
Make a bottle instrument
An activity to encourage children to think about how the amount of air in an instrument affects the pitch it makes.
Circuits and conductors true or false
A list of statements on circuits and conductors that children need to think about and then sort into the 'true' and 'false' boxes.

Activities for your child to do at home that will demonstrate the fact that air exists.
Draw a food chain diagram
A worksheet to prompt your child to use their knowledge of food chains to make their own chain with the given organisms.

Use this worksheet to discuss conductors and insulators with your child. See if they can work out which materials will make the bulb light up and why.
Solids, liquids and gases
This worksheet involves cutting out scientific vocabulary regarding solids, liquids and gases and matching it to its definition.
Food chains and interdependence
A cut out and stick activity that encourages children to think about which animals eat which plants and animals. They need to arrange these into food chains with arrows pointing the correct way.
