This is an extract from Swiss Family Robinson, an 1812 novel about a family who are shipwrecked and have to survive on a tropical island. It is written from the point of view of the father, William. In this passage William and his oldest son, Fritz, are looking for food with their dog Turk. Read the passage and then answer the questions below.
