The Klaus Flugge Prize celebrates picture book illustration and is awarded to the most promising and exciting new picture book creators.

This year there are five books on the shortlist...

While You’re Sleeping by Mick Jackson and illustrated by John Broadley explores night-time and what goes on when children are asleep;.

Gustavo the Shy Ghost by Flavia Z. Drago introduces us to a shy little ghost learning to make friends.

I’m Sticking with You by Smriti Halls, illustrated by Steve Small celebrates an unusual friendship.

My Red Hat by Rachel Stubbs describes the special love between child and grandparent. 

While the five books couldn’t be more different in illustration style, each one finds creative ways to portray love and friendship, security and comfort to the very young.
